Job Stories From Wadsworth, OH
Neighborhood with High Levels in Wadsworth

These homeowners had noticed that there were multiple radon mitigation systems in their neighborhood and it got them thinking that they should probably test. They have small children and spend a lot of time in the basement so they wanted to make sure that it was a safe environment for their family.

We left our professional radon test for multiple days and the levels came back at around 12 pCi/L. We had done a house right down the road from them and they had a very similar reading.

Because they had seen our work in the area and we extensively explained the installation process, they felt very comfortable working with us and we got the installation scheduled.

The day of the install we went next to their sewer stack for increased airflow underneath the slab and from there we were able to go straight up and out. The side of the house that we exited didn't have any windows and the roofline was well above 20 ft. Code says that our exhaust point must be away from windows and at least 20 ft above the ground if we're not above the roof. This allowed us to stop part way up and simply put a 45 degree fitting on the pipe to direct the air away from the home (if we didn't then the airflow would make black marks on the siding). This looks much better aesthetically and also increases airflow.

The results came back at around 2 pCi/L!

High Levels in Wadsworth Home!

This install was in a new development in Wadsworth, OH. The customer was only temporarily staying at the house so wasn't looking to spend more than necessary. Though we do have various options that can make our systems more premium we just quoted a base version because of the circumstances.

We were able to locate the inside stack in the corner next to the sump pump and a plumbing cleanout. Going next to the cleanout allows us to utilize the plumbing runs underneath the slab for better airflow. This home had levels in the mid teens so we wanted to make sure we took every measure to ensure maximum airflow. We also sealed the exposed control joints in the concrete so that our system would have a better vacuum under the slab.

The outside portion was hidden behind a large shrub on the front of the house, so the aesthetics of the home weren't compromised.

The levels dropped down well below 4 pCi/L, which is the action level.
