Aurora Home With High Radon

These homeowners were concerned with their radon levels because their son had a room in the basement.

It was very important to them that the levels after mitigation were very low, they wanted full peace of mind.

Luckily this home had interior footer drains that we were able to gain access to through the sump lid. This gave us great airflow underneath the concrete. We came right out of the sump with the system and through the rim joist to get access to the outside. The system was placed right on the back side of the home where it was hidden from view of the road and the back patio that they had!

The post-mitigation test came back at .6! The ambient outside air is .7 so it doesn't get any better than that.

Successful Mitigation System

This couple had recently bought a home in Aurora, OH and the radon test for their home inspection came back high. The realtor had recommended another company but that contractor didn't want to come out to the home and just wanted to get the job and show up for the install.

Since we come out to the home to give our free estimates, that made them much more comfortable going with us.

The system we designed was tucked into a corner that was very hidden from the outside of the house and couldn't be seen from the street. And on the inside of them home we ran our pipe straight down, next to a plumbing cleanout. This gave us access to the looser soil around the drains in the basement greatly increased our airflow.

Real Estate Sump Pit Install

This customer was helping to sell a family member's house. He was only at the house at off times of the day and infrequently because he lived about an hour away. However we didn't mind accommodating and making scheduling easy.

The radon test from the home inspector came back at 7 pCi/L. And the best system design was to put a sealed lid on the sump pit and put our suction point into it. This saves us from drilling a 5" hole in the concrete and when done right it can work even better.

We also made sure that the exterior portion was well hidden by tall trees on the side of the house. This way it wouldn't damage the aesthetics of the home.

The test came back well below the action level and the customer was so happy they told their realtor to contact us as a reference for the future!
