For this install, unlike most, we only had to put one suction point, do a little bit of crack sealing and nothing else. Generally there's a sump pit to seal or various other sources of radon.
Though this job wasn't as simple as we had first thought. Due to the presence of a footing through the middle of the basement we were worried that there wouldn't be good "communication" or airflow underneath the slab, sucking all of the radon out. However due to there being plumbing that went underneath the footer, it did allow us to draw air from that side of the slab. Which was confirmed before installation by our airflow test.
Our "airflow test" consists of drilling pilot holes in opposite sides of the basement, attaching a vacuum to one, and putting a suction meter on the other. If our meter has a negative reading then we know that our system is sure to draw air as well.
Our system was successful and it was a nice, simple system that we were very happy to install!
This client was selling their home and the radon test came back high.
They needed a mitigation system installed quickly and effectively. Luckily this is our specialty! We came out to give an official quote, and a week later we were on site installing the system.
This project was straight forward. We had to put a sealed lid on the sump pit to stop the radon from coming up into the home, as well as give us an airtight pit to pull air from. We then ran our pipe into the lid and to the outside, where we mounted the radon fan and exhaust point.
The levels dropped dramatically and passed our post-mitigation test!
