Radon Mitigation - Fan Mufflers

Friday, July 15th, 2022 by Evan Schmitt

A big question we get from a lot of our customers is, “How loud are radon fans?” The answer to that often depends. For example the main cause of noise is where the exhaust point is located, so if you have a ranch style home and the system is located by your back patio, it would be a low humming noise that could be an annoyance when spending time outside. Or if the exhaust point was close to windows, it would have the same effect. The final point where a muffler might be useful is when the fan is in the attic. This is because the noise can reverberate throughout the space and might be heard throughout the house.

Our mufflers are made out of pvc with a thick liner of dense foam on the inside to absorb the sound coming right out of the fan. This stops the fan noise from traveling up and bouncing off the inside of the pipe.

Of course this all depends on your personal sensitivity to noise. But if you think this may be a concern of yours, then we have the tools to help you!
